Through his background in supplementary instruction, Alan emphasizes the importance of fostering safe learning spaces to enhance science accessibility. Holding a degree in Plant Science from Cal Poly Pomona, he furthered his impact as an AmeriCorps fellow, co-founding the Garden of Hope Learning Garden—a cancer patient-focused educational hub—at City of Hope Medical Center, Duarte, CA.

Transitioning to Eco Urban Gardens, Alan was pivotal in launching their farm-to-school curriculum as Farm Program Manager. He successfully introduced agricultural and food preservation concepts to Adult Transition and High School students within El Monte Union High School District.

Alan's overarching goal is democratizing agriculture education, facilitating a renewed relationship between individuals and their food and environment.
