_ 2/23 - February Coalition Meeting - 6:30-8pm – PASADENA
This month’s BikeSGV meeting is already upon us!  Join us tomorrow at a new location in the heart of the City of Pasadena for healthy snacks, hot tea and updates on the group’s latest efforts to make the SGV more bike friendly, including the development of a regional bike plan akin to what the South Bay pulled off in 2011!  Oh, and did I mention all attendees will receive one of our first edition BikeSGV stickers?

What: BikeSGV Coalition Meeting
When: Thursday February 23rd, 6:30-8pm
Where:175 N. Euclid Ave., Pasadena 91101 (look for the bungalow with holiday lights just north of Pasadena City Hall on the corner of Euclid Ave and Thurgood Marshall).

The location is 3 blocks east of the Metro Gold Line Memorial Park station.  Secure indoor bike parking is available, too!

_ Alhambra City Council Moves Another Step Closer to First Bike Plan
Thanks to the efforts of local residents and cycling advocates, the City of Alhambra moved another step closer to the development of the City’s first bike plan this month. On February 14th the City Council authorized staff to issue a request for proposals for a consultant. BikeSGV co-founder and former Alhambra Council Member spoke in support of the effort.  Read more about the meeting and what the Council had to say in the Alhambra Source’s coverage of the agenda item.
Thanks again to all those who have taken the time to attend public meetings and/or write to their elected representatives. Public support was without question the driving factor behind the Council’s action to date (and will be needed as the process moves forward!).

South Pasadena Bike Plan – Implementation in Progress
Another piece of South Pasadena’s planned network of bike infrastructure should be installed in mid to late February when bike lanes are striped on Pasadena Ave. west of the Gold Line crossing. Although a short stretch of lane, the segment will provide local cyclists dedicated space along a regionally important stretch of road that is commonly used to access the Arroyo Seco Bike Path.
