EL MONTE SLOW STREETS

In an effort to provide more space for residents to more safely walk and roll while practicing social distancing, we're bringing “Slow Streets” to El Monte to make it clear people may be in the roadway. These temporary interventions encourage safe sharing of space, remind drivers to slow down, and open streets for recreation and mobility.

Slow Streets in effect
August 19, 2020 - September 16, 2020

 What are Slow Streets?
  • Slow Streets open residential streets for people to walk, roll, bike, run, and skate on the roadway.
  • Streets are not closed to cars. Rather drivers are reminded to SLOW DOWN and look out for people using streets for recreation and mobility.
  • Cut-through traffic is discouraged. Delivery vehicles, emergency vehicles, and people who live on these streets are still able to drive on them.
  • People can more safely use the roadway to pass their neighbors at a 6ft social distance.
  • Questions, contact danielle@activesgv.org
