The #GoCoastal program, funded by Coastal Conservancy, aims to empower residents in park-deprived and heat-vulnerable San Gabriel Valley communities to access the coast. Many locals have cherished childhood memories of biking to the beach through greenway corridors, but this experience is disproportionately rare in less affluent SGV areas.
The #GoCoastal program addresses this disparity by leveraging new technology, such as electric bicycles, and local transit, to enhance and highlight accessibility. Further, recognizing that coastal communities face the brunt of non-biodegradable waste, the program also seeks to educate inland communities about the broader consequences of local actions.
