Elizeth, or Ellie for short, was born in Tancítaro, Mexico and is of Purépecha descent. Ellie and her family migrated to the City of El Monte in 2001 and has lived in the San Gabriel Valley since. Ellie began organizing for migrant rights at a young age and has dedicated her life to fighting against the adverse impacts of oppression on marginalized individuals and communities.
Ellie received her Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Los Angeles, with an emphasis on Intersecting Identities and Relationships. She has extensive experience in community organizing for policy change and is currently working on various projects at ActiveSGV. Ellie is also a Soros Youth Justice Fellow and is developing a toolkit to educate youth and families on political education, community organizing, leadership development, and conflict resolution.
In her free time, Ellie enjoys painting and creating wearable art. She also enjoys reading, tending to plants and gardens, and learning about herbal remedies. Ellie is an Aquarius and values the connection and resources she brings to her community through her work at ActiveSGV and her role as a Soros Youth Justice Fellow.
