Community and Engagement Intern

Katherinne Mejia is a Community and Engagement Intern at Active SGV focusing on the COVID Health Project 3.0. Her primary role is to connect SGV folks to vaccination clinics and accessible testing sites near them and offer resources based on the needs of the SGV community. The most exciting part of her role is meeting community members where they are and finding ways to provide accessible resources.

Born in El Salvador Katherinne found her passion for community organizing in Pomona while working with local organizations to improve working and living conditions for people in Pomona and neighboring communities. She continued her advocacy efforts at Mt. San Antonio College where she serve as a community organizer for immigrant rights and completed her Associate's degree in sociology. She then transferred to the University of California Santa Cruz where she continued her education as a combined major in Sociology and Latin American and Latinos Studies.

Outside of work Katherinne enjoys hiking, traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with her partner, family, and her dog.
