From carshare demos and community bike rides to outreach at local celebrations, the ActiveSGV team connected with hundreds of San Gabriel Valley residents this month. We shared resources to make biking and active transportation more accessible across the region. Each event was an opportunity to listen, learn, and support community members in making cleaner, healthier transportation choices.

Cleaner Rides, Healthier Air – Expanding Access to EVs
ActiveSGV’s Climate Team hit the road in July to promote clean mobility through the SGV Carshare and BAAEC CarShare programs. A pop-up and Electric Vehicle (EV) ride-along in South El Monte gave residents a chance to test drive EVs, ask questions, and sign up on the spot. Meanwhile, BAAEC CarShare participants shared positive feedback on their EV trials, highlighting the savings and ease of charging with their free home EV chargers.

San Gabriel Independence Day Celebration
GoSGV joined the festivities at San Gabriel’s Independence Day celebration, connecting with over 60 community members. Amid food trucks, live music, and a drone show, the team shared information about equity memberships, drawing strong interest from residents and city leaders alike.

Pure Water Ride
In partnership with Pure Water, the GoSGV team hosted a group ride with stops at Peck Park and the Whittier Narrows Nature Center. Along the way, riders learned about local water sustainability efforts, making it both an active and educational outing.

South El Monte Community Bike Ride
The GoSGV team also co-led a community ride with the City of South El Monte, drawing 40 riders. Team members helped troubleshoot bike issues and even upgraded one rider to an e-bike after a flat. The event created space for neighbors to connect, share resources, and show support for more bike-friendly streets in South El Monte.

Health and Wellness Series with the LA Food Equity Fund
Throughout July, the LA Food Equity Fund team continued its Health and Wellness Series in El Monte. Each session featured a 30-minute Zumba class followed by a 30-minute nutrition workshop, offering community members a fun and engaging way to stay active and learn tips for healthy eating. The weekly gatherings supported families in building long-term wellness habits during the summer months.

South El Monte Night Market
ActiveSGV hosted an E-Family Cargo Bike Demo at the South El Monte Night Market, engaging over 400 attendees. Our staff shared info about the E-Family Cargo Bike programming and answered questions about bike and EV access. Many residents were excited to discover they were eligible for equity benefits and interested in reconnecting with biking.
