This image shows a train station platform at night. The scene is illuminated by the station’s overhead lights, casting a warm glow across the platform. People are scattered around, some standing and others moving about. The platform features architectural elements like arches supporting the roof, which adds a touch of character to the functional space. The tracks are visible in the foreground, with a “Stay Behind Yellow Line” warning clearly visible along the platform edge. The sky above is dark, suggesting it’s late in the evening.

ActiveSGV is committed to advancing equitable and sustainable infrastructure throughout Los Angeles County as part of the Infrastructure Justice for LA Coalition. This coalition aims to ensure that public investments prioritize benefits for frontline communities. By engaging local residents directly in infrastructure projects, the coalition promotes democratic participation and guarantees that these initiatives reflect the community’s true needs and aspirations.

The coalition also uses infrastructure projects as a catalyst for local job creation, especially in the green infrastructure sector. It champions leveraging local resources to fund job training and provide employment incentives, with a special emphasis on creating opportunities for residents from low-income backgrounds through partnerships with community colleges and high schools.

Recognizing the complexities involved in infrastructure projects, the coalition is working to establish a comprehensive support system for community groups, nonprofits, and agencies. This effort includes developing a technical assistance portal that will facilitate connections with LA County and Metro departments, enhancing access to resources and fostering collaboration among diverse groups. For more information on how to join us in shaping a more equitable future for our county, please visit infrastructurejusticela.org.
