Existing Bike Plan/Infrastructure

In March 2011 Temple City adopted its first Bicycle Master Plan. Until that point in time the City did not have any Class I/II bicycle infrastructure, and few Class III routes. Local cyclists did, however, benefit from the community's flat topography, small size, and proximity to the Class I Rio Hondo River bicycle path. The plan adopted in 2011 is one of the strongest and most comprehensive in the San Gabriel Valley.

In May 2014 the City officially celebrated the completion of the Rosemead Blvd. Project, which includes the region's first Class I on-street protected bike lane. Over 2 miles of Rosemead Blvd. now boast sections of Class I and Class II bicycle lanes.

For more information about the City's bicycle planning, visit the Temple City Bicycle Plan webpage, the Rosemead Blvd. Project page, and the Las Tunas Dr. Project page.

Proposed Bicycle Infrastructure

Thanks to strong support by City staff and elected leaders, the development of a protected bikeway on Rosemead Blvd. has already concluded, and planning on other key components of the plan are underway, including Class II bicycle lanes on Las Tunas Dr. The City also supports LA County's development of a Class I Bike Path along the Eaton Wash, which would provide local residents a direct link to the Emerald Necklace and Eaton Canyon in East Pasadena.
