Frequently Asked Questions

HOW CAN I DETERMINE IF I QUALIFY FOR A REBATE?
All participants must complete the City Cycling Class and must live within 3 miles of the Metro Express Lanes along the I-10 Freeway. Email jose@bikesgv.org for confirmation of address eligibility. One Rebate per household.

I've submitted the form above and attended a CCC class. I haven't Received an email yet. What does that mean?
Since the rebate program is currently at capacity, there is now a waiting list as of July 2017. Submitting the above form and attending the CCC class does not guarantee you will be receiving the rebate. If you have received an email from Jose Jimenez, it means your address has been verified to be within 3 miles of the Metro Express Lane and are cleared to submit your paperwork and purchase your bicycle.
However, if some time has passed since attending our CCC class and you have not received an email, you may likely be on the waiting list.

When will the program end?
E-Bike Rebate applications must be submitted before December 15, 2017 program will end December 31, 2017. Also refer to FAQ above.
Can I purchase any type of E-bike?
E-Bikes must be purchased NEW at an authorized retail location.
Do I have to purchase from a specific retailer?
We are working with a select number of retailers. Please email Jose@BikeSGV.org for eligible retailers
Where can I test ride or learn more about E-bike options?
You can test ride our 8 different E-Bikes at the Bicycle Education Center or we can assist you in finding a E-bike retailer that allows test rides.
Are electric cargo, family, or trikes eligible for the rebate?
All E-bikes that fall under: Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 E-bike under California law are eligible.
Are electric mountain bikes eligible?
Yes
Can I purchase a used E-bike?
No. Used/previously owned E-bikes do not qualify for the rebate.
How long will it take until I receive my rebate?
Rebates can take up to several months to process. Some have reported receiving checks as soon as a month, while others have waited up to 6 months. It just depends on how soon our partners are able to cut the checks.
