WoW - Women on Wheels
Why WoW?
Women on Wheels (WoW) was created in 2014 by a group of women-identified volunteers who felt a need to create a safe, supportive space for women of color interested in biking. Many women feel that it is not safe enough to ride a bike on the streets for fun or as their main mode of transportation. According to a 2009 Scientific American article, in the U.S., men's cycling trips surpass women's by at least 2:1. Overall, women are still severely underrepresented as riders, leaders and advocates in the bicycle movement.
In early 2019, Women on Wheels expanded its mission to include not just biking but also other recreational activities (ie: yoga, zumba, hiking, running, etc.).
